If a dev would team up with google maps?

I saw this article on IGN. I dont like IGN, but my love for video games has me visiting every gaming website i can think of at least once per day. Anyway, I saw this article,

It talks about video games (in this case battlefield) in the future. It goes on to describe how a developer could team up with google, and make a world thats excatly how you would see it on google maps. Take GTA for instance, New York City, everything in GTA would be identicle to what you would see on google maps, an entire state, street for street, block for block, town for town, building for building......

I quote IGN "Utilizing a partnership with Google Maps and Google Maps 3D, Battlefield World could, for a nominal fee, recreate actual real world environments a block at a time and render fully destructible versions of them on the fly. Ever wanted to run around your block in a video game? Or anywhere in the world? With integration like this, you'll be able to."

This is just an amazing idea and i thought i would share it..... what do yall think?

It's already being done.  Take a look at 'Crackdown: Project Sunburst' for the Windows phone.  It's a tower defense game based on your position on Bing Maps.
