Likely a silly question but are you sure the hard drive is a genuine one?

You can try some of the tips from here to see if it helps - forums.xbox.com/.../25.aspx

As long as you're using an official hard drive and your console is up to date, it should work though.

I am having a similar problem.

I bought a X360 slim (250gb) + Kinnect bundle for my kids during the Christmas promotions, thinking I'd be able to play KOTOR, since everyone says it's compatible.

When I put my disc in, it works fine for the first part of the game.  I can design a character, and play through the intro stage with Trask, but then when Trask goes off to fight the dark jedi, and you need to go to the starboard section of the ship, that's when my grief begins.

Everything looks fine, but then it just never finnishes loading the next section.  The loading bar gets about 3/4 of the way (gets upto the "I" of LOADING) and then just sits there.

I am baffled as to why this would be happening, and hope someone might have an idea as to how I might fix it.  It seems odd that KOTOR would work on older 360s but not newer ones.

Any help would be had.

thanks

What kind of shape is the disc in?  How badly is it scratched?  That may very well be the source of your problem.
