How to Record and Play using HDMI cables?

Hi there,

I currently have a Hauppauge HD PVR, which records my gameplay at 720 using my HD Component cables.  However, it has recently deteriorated in quality, it seems, and I am looking for an upgrade (to 1080).  Ideally, I would like to play AND record at the same time using HDMI cables.  Is there anyway to do this?  I know there is HDCP Protected something, which may prohibit this.  But there must be a way around it, seeing as IGN and Gamespot both have videos in HD.  Any help is appreciated, and I know this probably won't run cheap.  I would prefer an external capture card, if that works (not sure if some of the BlackMagic designs allow me to do this).  Thank you.

Try the Roxio Game Capture. I have this one. It records in 1080i through component cables (sadly no HDMI). It retails for $100 but look around I got mine from Amazon when they were running a $30 off special. It's external and you can play/record at the same time. Hope this helps.
