GTA V, WILL I GET BANNED FOR PLAYING IT EARLY?

I received my copy of GTA 5 legally via Amazon UK. I played this whole Saturday and I'm now worried about getting banned because a lot of websites are flooding with articles and comments like "PLAY GTA 5 EARLY - GET BANNED". Maybe it's true or not and I'm asking this question if I will get banned or not on xbox because of playing this game early? I've got all my packaging, emails from Amazon that I got this product legally from them. So let me know if I should be worried of MS trying to destroy my happiness and hype that GTA 5 gave me.

I'm pretty sure I answered your question in an ambassabank chat earlier. Its entirely possible that Rockstar will complain about this issue and MS could issue bans for playing early. If you really got the game legit and save all of your documentation you might have a leg to stand on if and when you get suspended

Looks like Microsoft will only ban you if you share game footage or photos www.examiner.com/.../gta-5-early-release-concerns-addressed-by-microsoft-and-rockstar-games

I would wait. But if you have all your receipts you should be fine. But it maybe suspended while they straighten it out.  Amazon making a mistake does not clear you. They may even erase your achievments. Maybe reset your gamer score. You are knowingly doing something wrong. Amazon should be punished.

Microsoft has officially stated on the forums that you should wait until September 17th.  Take that for what you will but I'd trust an actual Microsoft support agent over an internet tabloid article.

Ive heard of people getting banned for playing halo games before the release but that might be because they are official microsoft property...I still warn that the possible legal reaction by publishers or retail is more of a reason not to break street date. though, ive noticed by your recent games list, youve made up your mind to play it anyway...

@Master Walnut -- First, don't send me harassing messages over Xbox LIVE.  Second, one of the official support members flat out said do not play it until September 17th.

Here you go people, straight from Microsoft Support.  You can be banned for playing early, "legitimate" copy or not.

Just for reference to avoid any confusion: Playing GTA V before the street date on a legitimately gained copy is not illegal. There will be and can be no legal ramifications. That being said, it is still possible to get banned due to the individual terms of service of the companies involved.

Hi there gamers,

Visage is correct, playing a game before the legal street date violates the CoC and ToU and is a bannable offense. Even if you receive your game through a legitimate means, there is the possibility of being banned. I know most recently that several early access players of Halo 4 were banned for playing and sharing videos of the game a few days before release.

We highly recommend not taking the risk and waiting until the game is officially released before playing.
