As another poster asked, does your TV have any type of picture enhancement options?  These options attempt to enhance the picture while watching TV or Movies from external sources such as a DVD or Blu-ray player's.  However these 'post processing' enhancements can cause display latency when playing on consoles, or using your TV as a PC Monitor.  What you need to do is turn them off.  Refer to your TV documentation to find out how.

May I ask what the make and model of your TV is?

Im having the same troubles as you, i just got a 70 inch LCD HDTV but the game it self is a few milliseconds behind on what i punch in on my controller. I did use a HDMi on this tv and it causing lag but on my old TV i used the 3 wires you get originally with the Xbox...may be it has something to to with the hdmi cables

Does the TV have any sort of "enhancement" for the picture?

What you need to do is start with the most basic settings and go from there to identify the problem.

So have you only tested HDMI so far? If so, does the same issue occur with component cables?

Does your display have a 'Game' setting that you could try? If not, you may want to test the other settings, to see if any provide better results.

I should also add that some LCDs have display latency.

Older tube t.v.s do not.
