Fighting Games

Is Netherrealm(formerly Midway) the only American company that makes fantasy fighting games? If so that is just sad. The japanese have a variety of fantasy fighting games, and what do we get, Mortal Kombat. Game developers need to take more risks and diversify instead of always taking the easy way out by making FPS and 3rd person shooters.
instead of always taking the easy way out by making FPS and 3rd person shooters.
Unfortunately, that's what the main age demographic of gamers want and not only want that genre, but have it on a familiar franchise like Call of Duty. It sells and sells big. Easy money.

It's like when Street Fighter II and Pokemon came out, they made lots of money and other companies wanted in on that hype from those genres. Shooters are today's hype. Until another genre strikes popularity, shooters will be everywhere you turn and publishers will find nothing wrong in the over-saturation.
