Fallout 3 wont start

i haven't played fallout 3 since the day before new vegas came out (so almost a year now) and today i put the disc in and the title screen comes up but when i press start it will say 'loading downloaded content' and then a disc unreadable error comes up, there is nothing wrong the game. the game was a replacement so when i had stopped playing it, it was pretty much still brand new so it isn't scratched, if anyone had any clue as to why this might be happening please please let me know.

fallout is my favorite game, i also completely screwed up my new vegas disc and it won't play either, so i really really need help. i won't really prefer not having to buy another copy. :(

Have you tried installing the game to your HDD?

If that doenst work try borrowing a copy to install to your HDD and just use your copy to keep in the tray for verification purposes.

I would also suggest trying to delete and re-download the DLC for the game as well. Follow the steps here: forums.xbox.com/.../33.aspx
