Downloading a friend's profile to make use of DLC

This applies to the Halo 4 Specialisation Alpha DLC.

.

Codes were sent out giving players who played before a certain date after Halo 4's release access to all the Specialisations, but it's been discovered that you can download a friend's profile and make use of your permissions to give them access to the Specialisations. After entering one, they can play until they finish it, in which case you can then access their profile and enter another Specialisation.

.

This bypasses not having being given a code yourself, however 1) not everyone who was supposed to have received a code did and 2) this DLC was not paid for and 3) this isn't hacking or modding and doesn't seem to be or have cause to be punishable.

.

Is this permitted and what is Microsoft's official stance on this? Also, does 343 Industries'  stance differ, and what is theirs?

Well this can be a confusing subject. In some ways it can be bad because you are receiving content that you did not claim yourself. There are other ways of doing things like this with other DLC content that you buy. Not sure what the official ruling is, but I do believe it is frowned upon.

Awhile back, Microsoft started banning people for doing DLC exploits similar to this, I would suggest that you do not do it, and if you know of those doing it to inform them of Microsoft's actions in the past.

Hey ChainSmokingBob! This would be considered Marketplace theft which is in violation of our Terms of Use. On a positive note, the Priority Alpha Specializations are scheduled to be released to the public starting January 21st! You can check out the Halo Bulletin's most recent blog for more on info on this. :)
