Downloaded games won't play without disk...why?

I have saved several games from purchased disk to hard drive, plus downloaded from  live to console, but they say that I cannot play them without having the disk inserted. Why do I have to insert the disk if it is downloaded to the hard drive? How do I play a game downloaded to the hard drive without using the disk?

it starts the disk to make sure you have the game. then after that it will play off the hard drive.

if microsoft let you play games from the hard drive without having the disk then everyone would borrow or rent games just to istall them without buying them lol.

if you downloaded it from the marketplace then you do not need the disc but if you downloaded them from the disc onto the hard drive then you will need to have the disc in the system in order to play the game.
