Dotted vertical lines...

I got the Xbox 250GB Kinect Bundle earlier this year. Recently (last couple months) we had not been using it very much except for a few of my son's DVDs. I picked up Madden 2012 and discovered an issue after several minutes of playing. The screen will develop these vertical dotted lines that appear to be either blue or green across the whole screen. I was first playing off the DVD, but then installed the game, but the same issue occurred. I even switched from HDMI to the provided VGA/Composite cable and got the same result. I have attached a picture for a better idea of what is occurring and hope someone could advise what I should do next. Is there something I can do to fix it, or should I submit a repair request?

Hello, JDolley, have you tried to reset the XBOX 360's Display Settings to see if this has made any sort of difference? To do this you can visit this link: support.xbox.com/.../xbox-kb-911059 Do you have any way to test this on another TV/Monitor? Just want to see if it's possible that it could be the TV (though it's unlikely) it's definitely worth a shot before sending it in for repair. If you aren't able to do that then your best bet would be to send this in for repair by either going to http://myservice.xbox.com and requesting a repair or by calling XBOX Support for your region. Hope that's helped you out in some way, let us know if we can help in any other way :)

I just tried the display settings reset and after that fired up Madden 12, but got the same end result. I'll try switching TVs at lunch, but something tells me that won't work. Then again, if it does work, It will give me an excuse to buy a new TV!

Try it out if you can and let us know :) we'd be interested to find out some more information on this stuff. You're actually one of the few people experiencing different colored lines and dots on the screen (first person to actually post a picture)

I moved the Xbox to our bedroom TV and after playing for several minutes the problem occurred again. It seemed to take a bit longer to happen, but eventually yielded the same result. I should note that the Xbox usually sits in an entertainment cabinet, but I open the door when I use it for better airflow. When it was in the bedroom it was just sitting on a wooden chair, so it was not obstructed at all.

I've attached another pic, alittle more close up, of the problem on the other TV.

Yeah if you've tried another TV as well and it's the same sort of effect, I highly suggest sending the console in for repair.

Before jumping the gun on a repair, have you tried using different A/V cables? What kind/brand are you using right now?

Sorry for the late reply and my Xbox has already been sent in for repair... As to your question, I used a Vizio branded HDMI cable, Monoprice HDMI cable, and the included Xbox composite a/v cables and got the same result with each one.  I don't think it was the cables...
