Does anyone use the M16?

I've been playing around with it, got about 1500ish kills but just can't make my mind up on the best setup for it. At the minute I've been using red dot and silence or red dot and rapid fire. For perks Scavenger, Assassin or Quick Draw and Stalker or Marksman. I just don't feel like I've hit that sweet spot yet where I'm completly comfortable with the gun. Yeah I can pull of some good games with it using a very defensive play style but not always. I just thought if there if any of you guys/girls use it and get good results then I would love to hear your class setup/s. Thanks :)

I had a match where the guy had a gold M16 with ACOG and silencer.  He was pretty good with it.  It is all about lag compensation.  M16 is pretty accurate so if you do not experience too much lag you can kill in 1-2 bursts. When LAG is present I get a lot of hit markers and it takes about 2-4 bursts.  I found out that hip firing is also pretty accurate. Overall, I will leave it for one of the last guns to level :)

You should know by now that with the lag comp it's near impossible to be good with anything that's not full auto. If lag comp wasn't a concern, I would use the hybrid sight for the maps that have close and long range areas, and under-barrel shotgun for the extreme CQC (you could also use overkill with a more powerful shotgun, but that's up to you). Use scavenger, QuickDraw, and either stalker or dead silence. If you go overkill with shotty, use the acog and stability with grip and damage on the shotty. I would recommend ext mags of you use the AA-12 or usas with damage. Keep scavenger and use stalker. You will cover mid-long range with M16 and still have decent close range with it, and the shotty will cover tight spaces. If you keep quick draw, use the .44 magnums akimbo and use steady aim. The reload cancel for them is extremely quick and they have good stopping power and controllable recoil, plus they are very accurate while akimboed.

Hmm... Never tried the ACOG but I like the sound of the Hybrid, I never think to use it hardly, not to mention it looks quite sexy on a gold gun. Yeah, I'm going to try the Hybrid w/silencer. For perks I'll give the Overkill a whirl with the Striker along with SoH for the quick switch and maybe Stalker or Sitrep Pro.

Incredibly inconsistent and frustrating. It's not worth using. I swear it only works consistently on Interchange, for whatever reason.

Been using it recently after liking it in CoD4 and BLOPS.

.

It's subpar at best, but that's what makes it exciting in my opinion. Getting kills with a 3 burst that's s***tier than the Type 95? Awesome! I do have to agree with the inconsistent performance - middle range to long range, I can get kills with 2-4 bursts.

.

While I still haven't unlocked everything, I've been using it with Red Dot and the Impact proficiency. It's really useful when you play a defensive role and targets are behind cover - I can make an educated guess as to where they are and shoot through their cover. As for perks, I've been using Scavenger, Hardline Pro and Marksman.

.

The first perk I'm likely to change while I find what works for me. Since I get lots of assists while playing defensive, Hardline Pro's a must for me - every two assists counts as a pointstreak. And I'd reckon the role of Marksman's pretty obvious.

I like the idea of Impact but there are so many things that are bullet proof that shouldn't be, so I end up giving away my positio for nothing. There's a brilliant wall bang on Village if you spawn A. Run straight up the hill that overlooks the pick up truck near C, look left and pulse fire at the tin to the right of B, this is good for first blood and anywhere from 1-3 kills. It works almost every single time.

The MW3 version is pure shite. I'd only use it for variety -- I think players who can do well while using & trying different weapons are a hell of a lot better than the egoist scrubs who use nothing but the most powerful kits (UMP, Type95, ACR) game in, game out.

I 100% guarantee I have more fun & feel better about going 20-15 with an M16 than some kid who goes 25-5 with a Type95. There's something to be said for challenging yourself -- sadly, this concept is lost on the vast, VAST majority of this entitled community.

@Colonel I agree with all what you said except the UMP part, to be fair the gun is only half as good as it was. I'd say it's still a good gun but is out-classed by the MP7, PP90 and the P90. As for the M16 I find it very rewarding and like how it's infectious. A lot of the time if people get killed by it at least one other person will run it next game, especially if you've just gone ham with it.

By the way I'm not replying to bump this post, I just like an M16 discussion :)

Eh, I don't know, the UMP still feels pretty damn powerful to me. I can't tell the difference between the MW2 UMP & the MW3 UMP -- the only difference I see is that in MW2, the UMP outclassed every other SMG by a lot; but in MW3, there are a lot of good SMGs. When I use it, it has sick range, little-to-no recoil & doesn't seem to lose any of its power or range when silenced.

And just to clarify: I have no issue with people using any gun in the game (aside from the Type95). My issue is with people who just use the aforementioned guns seemingly every game they play.

Hey Troy...try the M16 with the Thermal Scope. I'm curious to see how that works out. :)
