Disc read error.

Ok, so for the past couple of days I've been trying to play Call of Duty Black Ops II, which I just got. The only problem is, it won't read the disc. My xbox reads every disc I have except for it. I even tried borrowing my friends copy of the game and it wouldn't read it either. Is my disc drive laser not compatible with Black Ops II or something? I've tried every step in the xbox support list except for sending my console in. If I were to install it to a memory card on another console then play it from that on my console, would that work? Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Either your Xbox is not reading discs or your black ops is scratched

Maybe try downloading it to your hard drive

All other games work fine, right?  What Xbox model are you using and is there an error code?  Something like "Open Tray" ?

Yes all other games work fine. I have one of the 60GB xbox's that they sold for a little while a few years ago. Every time I put the disc in it either says "Open Tray", "Multimedia Disc", or it just never stops reading the disc. I did get an error code a couple times, and I think it was something like "Error code: 03-80-00" maybe, but that hasn't happened in a while. I've tried two separate Black Ops 2 discs, which are both scratch-less, and neither would read.

I have the same issue with Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer disc. Same error message. Only feedback I got was to buy a new disc but, considering that even your friend's disc didn't work, then I haven't a clue.

My best guess is to clean out the Xbox disc tray, or google it. xD If neither helps then we got problems.

Hi Spartan Therapy! Have you by chance tried your disc in your friend's console as well? It would be interesting to see if the disc is able to be read by other consoles. If not, then I would recommend exchanging the the disc. If it does get read, then unfortunately your console would likely be in need of repair. Let us know what you find out! :)

This might be another solution but where was the origin of these discs? I believe that there are different zones in the world (like DVDs) and maybe your console isn't compatible to read the disc.

Hey Killer. Are you trying to play the game off the disc, or was it a Games on Demand version? If you are playing off a disc, have you installed the game to your HDD? Let us know, thanks!
