Disc Drive/Installed game issues

I have an older model 360 and the disc drive is on the way out, basically it makes a lot of noise when reading discs. To rectify this I usually install all my games on the the hard drive when I am playing them long term, as the discs don't usually spin once loaded. I have just purchased Gears of War 3, installed the game onto the hard drive, however when I try and play it, the disc still spins, causing so much noise (whining and sounding like a scraping sound) I can't really play the game.

Any ideas what to do in this situation?

Because of the new disc layout, game discs will spin a little longer than usual after being installed. Give it a couple of minutes and it should stop.

i had the same problem , but like an idiot , i opened my xbox, tried fixing it , it was something to do with the *** for the laser to move on , but it was well and truly f***ed, it was my offline xbox so i wasnt realy bothered, if it is still under warenty then ask for a repair, otherwise it will be cheaper to buy a new one
