Disc Burn

Well this is also a bit strange. My son plays his soccer game on a regular, a bit religiously i may add. However this time we heard a weird noise. we thought by laying the game vertical(on its side) it would go away. Little did we know it got louder. when  i opened the tray there was a nice deep scratch-like groove. Any takers?

If you moved the console while the disc was in the tray, then the disc will likely need to be replaced as that kind of damage to the disc is very hard to repair. As for the weird noise, in my experience, that's just the fan attempting to keep up with long stretches of gameplay. To lower that, I would recommend that the game be installed to the console's hard drive if one is present, which drastically reduces the usage of the disc drive during gameplay and in general lets the console run cooler.

A friend recently had issues with a scratched disc. We have since burned the game to his hard drive so that the disc is only required to launch the game; he can now play as normal (and relatively noise free as minimal disc loading).
