Dirt 3 on demand, performance issues

Hello,  i have recently purchased Dirt 3 from games on demand, and everything seems to be fine until i get into a race, where it keeps skipping or stopping and starting as if it is a slightly scratched disc. But being a digital download, this makes no sense. I have freed up hard drive space and let made sure it wasnt my xbox overheating either. I feel quite helpless as i have tried looking for anyone with similar problems online, but no luck whatsoever.

The first 2 races i had were fine but now its virtually unplayable. I really enjoyed this game and its disappointing for this to occur. Plz any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have done everything you have said and it has improved, however as soon as i start an normal race,  it starts juddering or skipping again...as if it has trouble loading everything. This doesnt make sense at all from a digital copy, is it just the game?
