Digital Downloads - need some clarification on where the license is bonded. The console or account?

Mainly, my friend would like to sell me his Xbox One.

He has Ghosts downloaded as a digital download on the console. Will this game be playable on my account after I recover onto the Xbox One?

Will the game still be playable if he picks up another console later on down the road and recovers his account?

Will the game stay if he recovers his account onto a 360?

Thanks!

The license is assigned to your account.

This is so you can take your profile with you and still have access to your games.

So no, you won't have access to it if you get the Xbox One unless he gives you his Xbox account with it too.

What you're saying may be right, but what is happening is completely different.

I'm able to play no problem using my account on this Xbox. Thanks for the reply though!

Each account has a "home" Xbox. On this Xbox, any games that the account has purchased will be available to all accounts on that Xbox; this is why you can currently play on it. If he changes his home Xbox to a new one, you won't have that ability.
