Dead Rising 2 - Games with Gold doesn't work

I can download it and play it just fine. Its when I sprint through the lobby of the arena (in the prologue) and go outside (where the mission directs you toward) where my load screen will load then freeze before moving onto the next cutscene/area. I push the home button on my controller and cannot hear a noise, so it is frozen. This has happen 5+ times and I cannot bypass it. I deleted the game, cleared cache, restarted the xbox, and then redownloaded it. Tried it again and it did the exact same thing. Anyone know of a fix?

I know you said you re-downloaded it but it honestly sounds like a corrupted download.  Can you try installing it to a USB drive?

I can't download it to or move it to the usb. Even after reformatting it several times and redownloading the game.

Do you have sufficient space available on the USB drive?  You formatted it on the Xbox 360 Console, correct?

Its a 64Gb flash drive that was completely converted to xbox format and has 31Gb of xbox storage. I think you were right with your first guess. Its probably the download from xbox live.

Hey there honeyslayer,

Sorry to hear your Dead Rising 2 keeps freezing.

A few questions for you to make sure we understand exactly what's happening:

  • Do any other games have this freezing issue?
  • Is it always that same place in Dead Rising 2?
  • What is happening that you can't download or move to the USB drive?
    • Are you seeing an error message?

It may be a corrupt download, in which case I would recommend:

  1. Delete the game from your Hard Drive
  2. Clear your system cache - 3 times
  3. Restart your console
  4. Download your profile
  5. Downloading the game again from your Download History

Please let us know the answer to those questions and how those steps work for you and we'll go from there.

Hi try deleting the game from your hard drive and any non essential saves (if any) and download the game again

You could also try deleting any dlc as this has caused a couple of issues in the past, the content can be reinstalled when your game is up and running by viewing your purchase history.

Finally try the old favourite of clearing you cache as below:
