Damaged disc, can't play game.

I recently bought a copy of Portal 2 but when I was playing it I moved my Xbox and it scratched the disc. I was wondering if there was any way for me to download the game to my hard drive for free and play it from there since I have already purchased the game or wilI have to go and buy a new copy or get the disc repaired? Thanks

if you have a gamestation near you thay normaly have disc repaire machines in their stores but I doubt you'll find anywhere that will let you download it for free unless you know someone with the game then you could used their copy &  use yours as the start up disc.

try cleaning it with silvo or brasso, get the one with the fabric in, not the liquid, then polish the scratch out,

You could take the disc to a local game retailer to get buffed, it might help.

Borrow a copy from a friend to install, if you do not know anyone who has it rent it and install that copy to your HDD, if the damage to your disc is not too severe it might read enough to boot up.

If none if this works then you will need to buy another copy.
Some companies do disc replacement so have a look at the back of your instruction manual it will be listed there somewhere if they do it.
There is a charge for a new disc but it is usually a lot less than buying one retail. But there is a finite amount of time you can do this after purchasing a game. Something to look into though.

I have to agree with GreyPilgrim.

I had a copy of Halo: Reach, and It got 12 perfect circle scratches around it.  My friend let me borrow his copy of Reach and I installed it.  When I put my disc, it read fine and loaded fine.  Give it a shot.
