I thought there was a tutorial on the XBOX 101 thing but I cant find that either

hatchet, their should be a tut on the dashboard for my information about your problem. Either that or you need to log onto your ADMIN account if you made one. If not than look up on how to do it correctly.

Promote a child account to an adult account

Xbox LIVE determines whether an account is a child account or an adult account based on the age of the account owner. Account owners who are younger than 18 are given child accounts in the United States. The legal adult age varies by country and region (for example, the adult age in Korea is 20).

Child accounts are tied to an adult's Windows Live ID. The adult account can control Family Settings and restrict some features of Xbox LIVE.

After you reach the age of adulthood (which varies by country and region), you can promote a child account to an adult account. This promotion removes the Family Settings and Xbox LIVE restrictions.

To promote a child account to an adult account

    • Sign in to Xbox LIVE by using the account that you want to change.
    • Go to Settings, and then select Account.
    • Select Promote Child Account.

Note This option is available only if the date of birth for the account indicates that you have reached the age of adulthood (18 in the United States). The legal adult age varies by country and region. The age of an account owner is calculated by using the date of birth provided when the account was created. This date cannot be changed. If you entered an incorrect date of birth when you created the account, your only option is to create a new account using the correct date of birth.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to promote the account.

Note If you want to control the console itself - for example, to limit the amount of time the console can be used on a daily basis, or limit the content types that can be viewed on the console - please see Xbox 360 console parental controls. Unless the child account is 18 years of age you won't be able to promote it to an adult account.

If your console broke then why not just recover your account onto his console?

Yeah I guess I never thought of that. Thanks for the info guys!

I would recover your account to the other console.  xbox live accounts are not transferable . . . even from child to parent.  The only way to promote an account once it is created is T-I-M-E.  When the account comes of age according to the age of the child when it was created . . you can promote it.

I always suggest to double and triple check the DOB when making accts and such.

I was going too fast once, and left the DOB as the DAY that I was making the acct on.

I didn't even pay attention when it wanted another email account.

Sadly, made for a rough start of my gaming.

As long as you know your WLid and password and have net access and either a mu, harddrive or usb drive you can download your profile on just about and 360 console anymore. I just admit, the downloading takes so much less time than recovering..

If you cant make it an adult account due to the age being wrong. Go to parental settings and change all the settings so they allow you to play every age ratedgame, watch higher rated videos, no xbox live shut off after a certain amount of time and that. Then its basically an adult account.

dang cant promote untill 4 more years

what about downloads i have changed mine and i still cant download? it says its an adult account but when i try download it says downlads are prohibited on a child account ?
