Charged full amount, not asked to use money already in Xbox Live account

I had an issue where a code I got from Gamestop didn't give me enough money to buy what I needed, and I was told on here to change the payment option to a credit/debit card and it will take the money out of my account as well, however I didn't get a prompt asking if I wanted to use the money I already had in my account first, and I was charged a full $53.36 when it should have only been $1.36, as that is the difference between the price and the money I had in my account.

It should have worked then. You can try contacting support and speak to billing to see if there is anything they can do, but no one on the forums would be able to fix it. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada or support.xbox.com/contact-us
