Can't play Halo 2 Collector's Edition on my 360!!

Hey guys i recently bought the halo 2 collectors edition and i tried playing it on my xbox 360 slim but i cant play it. i just get this message saying "Cant play game. Try downloading the game again." I was also looking around the web to try to find a solution and i saw this post in yahoo answers saying this"some games are not able to play on the xbox 360. like juiced. I have tried both halo 2 regular and halo 2 collectors edition. you can't play the collectors edition because it is not compatible with the system. microsoft made it clear on a lot of games that you can't play. if you want to go technical on trying to get it working, you can download the backwards compatibility ISO from xbox.com and burn it to a disk so you can try seeing if it worked that way. So i was wondering if it actually has anything to do with the disc being from the collectors edition.

Well since you have a new slim Xbox does it have a HDD? Cause original Xbox games wont work unless you have the 250GB HDD. Also If you do have a HDD make sure that it is a MS certified or it wont work either.

That'll be the problem then. Doom 3 works but only in the States and in 50hz for Europe, Aussie Land and New Zealand. Halo 2 works straight out of the box. Because it's a software emulator powering backward compatibility and not the guts of the old machine inside the 360 (ala the PS2 and Wii) you can run into a few problems with some games.

I see this is an old thread but I will try anyway. I have the same issue, sans the message. When I insert my Halo2 LCE disk in my 360S, all I get is "PLAY DVD" No message, no game. I have an MS certified 20GB HDD. Same issue? Why no message?

Hey there Rydr! Just to confirm, you do have a first party HDD, an active connection to LIVE, and have updated your console to the latest version, correct? Also, do other Xbox Original games work on your console or do they all have this same issue? Let me know, thanks!

MG- Yes, yes, yes and yes! All other early original games play fine. Just Halo 2, and without a message, which is strange. I spoke with support and they said that it is only a Halo2 issue. When I asked for a link to the issue, they directed my to this forum thread (so obviously they did not know, only did a search for input from the knowledge base)

It is like the game is not even on the disk, as only the DVD play option appears (BTW, the DVD plays fine!)

In viewing the disk on the computer, ONLY the video files show up (AUDIO/VIDEO TS). No other files appear on the disk, but I imagine game files cannot be read by the OS?

I have ordered a 250 GB drive so we will see what happens!

BTW, we sure look alike, are we brothers?? (If so, I am obviously the older brother!) ;-))

BTW2: How come my games don't show up in my profile/avatar image? I do not see any options for this in the profile setup.

Thanks

Thanks for the info Rydr! You mention that you are using the limited edition of this game. Could you try a regular version of the game disc to see if that works for you? There may be something special on the limited disc that is not supported by our backwards compatibility. Also, can you confirm that this game disc doesn't work on other consoles? Let me know, thanks!
