Can't Play Catan

I used to play this game, Catan, on Xbox Live Arcade all the time, but its been a few years and I decided to fire it up again tonight.  Unfortunately it seems horribly broken, both single and multiplayer.

If I try and start a single player game it just says joining game for around 30 seconds, and then exits back to the game settings menu. I tried this several times before deciding to try a multiplayer game (Player Match, Quick Game). This dumped me into the Game Setup lobby where nothing happened and none of the buttons (including B to Cancel Game) would do anything.

I tried deleting and reinstalling the game with the same results. This is very unfortunate for a great game that I purchased years ago, and I really hope I that I can get some support for this. Any assistance is appreciated.

The game is still on the Marketplace, meaning it should still be supported. When you deleted and re-installed, did you take a minute to clear your cache, too? If not, please try the process again, following these steps:

Delete the content
System Settings > Memory > [select storage device] > Games > [select game] > [select content] > Delete

If the content is not in the above location, try looking in the Games folder for “Unknown Game”. Delete this and continue with the steps.

Clear system cache
System Settings > Memory > Highlight HDD, Press (Y) > Clear System Cache > Yes

Restart the system

Redownload from purchase history
Account Management > Download History > [select content] > Download Again

If that doesn't do the trick, I'm curious: Are you playing the game on a different console than it was purchased on, or are you currently in another region other than where your account was created? Thanks!

Yes, I cleared the cache the first time and restarted. I am playing the game on a different console than it was purchased on though. I did the one time transfer of all my licenses to the new console and haven't had problems with any of my other purchased games.

Are the other games that are working without issue from the same memory device? If so, can you please go into 'System Settings' > 'Memory,' and see if you have any corrupted files? It's possible there's a corrupted/half file for Catan in there that may be preventing you from playing the game properly.

played about a week ago,but WAS not working today.   I did the steps above, deleted game and expansion, cleared cache, reboot, downloaded game, launched game, applied update, in game went and re downloaded expansion.  tried single player.....waiting....back to menu.  Tried single again, and voila! I get the pick opponents window.  too good to be true, right. exit to dashboard, launch game, single, waiting, waiting.....pick opponent window!!  I wonder if game is having trouble connecting to a server.  Anyway, now playing!
