Can't Add Microsoft Points - This action cannot be performed at this time.

I have tried numerous times over the past week to add points to my account both through my Xbox and online at Xbox.com to no avail. Just now I tried again and received the following error.

I've attempted to use 2 different credit cards and even PayPal but nothing works. I checked billing.microsoft.com and both cards are active and in "good" standing.

I did purchase 6000 points at Xbox.com on 7/25/2011 using my Mastercard and purchased 3 games for 1200 points each. My points balance should be 1200 but it's shown as 0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx -Rob

You may want to call support since you're having billing issues and also a points balance issue.

What is the full error message/code you get when trying to do this on the console? You can also check on https://billing.microsoft.com to see your recent points history (when they were bought and spent, and on what).

I have the exact same problem. Been trying a couple of weeks on two different consoles as well as online on Xbox.com. Getting the same error as above on the online attempt and the message:  "Can't authorize the selected payment option. Please select a different payment option or add a new one", on the console. The cards where Visa and Mastercard.

My PayPal account won't be accepted either. (the error message I got then didn't compute with actual error)

I've tried re-downloading the latest xbox update, deleted the registered credit card and re-entering the information.

This is after it states this action cannot be performed at this moment. Try again later. We'll it's been later and then some! Why role out a payment option a lot of us have been waiting for when it seemingly hasn't been tested enough!

I also read in one of the answers pertaining this issue to have a positive balance on your pPayPal account even if it is linked to your bankaccount. The reason I don't do that because there is money in my bankaccount and thus not needed in my PayPal account! For when I would have placed money in my PayPal account I would have to do this each and every time I want to purchase something on Xbox live which is absolutly not customer friendly!

Come one Xbox remove the payment option until it works properly or fix it! It did work so some thing in the last update must have caused it to stop working!

I appreciate you guys having all this information for us, but the error messages and codes you get off of Xbox.com don't really help us. If you want to provide error messages, please do so from the Xbox console. That said, if you are having payment method issues on multiple payment methods, try calling up phone support in your region (support.xbox.com/.../contact-us.aspx) and see if there is something going on with your account.

Found one solution to my problem today. In a desperate attempt to make this work, I made a second Windows Live ID. FINALLY I could add my PayPal account. Haven't tried adding credit cards yet.

Still have no idea what kind of problems MS are having.

No matter what I do Xbox is not letting me redeem my card.

An error has occurred during the transaction.  Please try again later.

I keep getting that message on the site and another one like that on my Xbox. Help anyone?
