Can't run SC Conviction after update

Game crushes after a required update, but runs without it.

I've bought SC Conviction in Live marketplace. When I try ti run the game, it says, that I've got to install 3 mb update. But when this upd is installed, game crushes wit the message "This update is not correct for this version"(Translation may be incorrect, cuz system message is in russian). BUT, if i clear cash and refuse to install update, the game runs properly, but I can't connect to XLive. Btw, my friend also have this problem.

Unfortunately that actions you have taken are the actions being forwarded by Ubisoft. Please see below.

If you plan on playing the game today, don't install the update. If you already have, there is a workaround that will allow you to continue on without running into a freeze. Simply clear the system's cache then refuse to accept the update when Conviction is booted up again. To do this, head to the Xbox 360's dashboard, select System Settings, then enter into the Memory menu. Choose your hard drive then press "Y" for device options. Clear the cache, and you are good to go.

The problem is, that I want to play in coop mode and need to connect to Live for that. Yes, i've already wrote, that the game is playable without update, but I should be offline for that. The question is, what should I do to run the game online?

Hey HormigaDeLocura. There is no way to play the game online, without installing the update. Have you migrated regions lately by chance? Does your physical location match your account region? Let us know, and we can go from there.

No, region is not migrated (well, it is migrated, but it was migrated 2 years ago), physical location is matched. Language is English. 6 months ago I played the game properly, than I deleted it. Now I redownloaded this game, that I've already bought in January, and this problem appeared.

Probles is, that this game worked when I installed it for the first time. But now, after reinstall, I've got the update problem

Hey there Hormiga,

You may want to try deleting the game (not your saves, just the game) and trying these step:

    • You may also want to try queuing the game download from the website marketplace if you have that set to your account region.



Please let us know if that still gives you the same error when you try to update.

Didn't work.

I cleared cache, deleted profile (didn't delete saves cuz i need them), rebooted, reinstalled the game from shop and got the same problem.

I've also spotted a strange thing, when download is about 80%, I've got message, that the download is finished. Game is playable offline, but update make it crush again. My friend got the same problem.

Hey HormigaDeLocura,

When the download jumps to finish, that points again to a region issue. Did you purchase this game before you switched regions two years ago? I ask because content downloaded prior to a region migration is not guaranteed to work after the region migration process.

One thing you could try would be to transfer your licenses to your current console, as this may just be a license issue.

No, I've already said that. I megrated a year before purchaising. I purchased game in january 2013, deleted it few weeks later, and now it don't work. And, like I've already said, my friend got the same problem
