Can't play Ninja Gaiden for Xbox on Xbox 360 S

I remember playing Xbox originals on my Xbox 360 Elite a few years ago , but now I can't play my newly bought Ninja Gaiden on my new Xbox 360 S.

I'm not even getting the error code that my software is not up to date , but it simply says :

'' Couldn't start the game , try downloading it again ''

Downloading ? it's an unscratched original retail version of the game,  I don't understand what's going on here.

I'm connected to LIVE , but my old Elite on which I used to play my Xbox originals was not connected to live ,                                                                                                            but it was updated with the official backwards-compatibility software.

I'm starting to think it has something to do with last year's dashboard update but I hope not

Thanks in advance for your help !

Do you have an official hard drive, or a third-party hard drive? Third party hard drives reportedly have issues with original Xbox games. If this isn't the cause, we'll have to dig a bit. Ninja Gaiden shouldn't have any issues with any Xbox models, generally speaking.

He said it is an unscratched retail version of the game which means it is a CD so it has nothing to do with his HDD.

The HDD houses the emulation profiles for the original Xbox games, so it matters for both downloaded and disc-based original Xbox titles.

Xbox's are no longer backwards compatable. I have many original xbox games, including Platinium Hits, and none of them work on the Xbox 360 s.

Dichotomy - All 360s are capable of playing backwards compatible game as long as they have an official MS hard drive. So as long as the Slim has an official 250 gb or 320 gb hard drive, then there should be no issues playing original Xbox games.

Tell that to my xbox 360s that I bought NEW from a department store little more than a year ago. It's drive is OFFICIAL Xbox and it does not play ANY original Xbox games. And Best Buy as well, as they told me the Newest Xboxs are not backwards compatible. It may be that the ones with 250 HD can,  but I and probably many others have the 4gb HD and they do not.

The 4gb is an internal flash memory and not a hard drive which is why those won't play Xbox original games. If you add a 250gb or 320 gb hard drive to it, it will play original games.

So ZikoLogiKa, I guess the question is what Xbox 360s do you have?
