Can't Join A Game on Live

Hi There,

We're new to the XBox and after inviting a friend to a party (works great), we can't seem to invite them to join a game.  The option is the only one that is greyed out on our menu.  Both players have the same game....what are we doing wrong?

try doing a speed test which will sign you out of live when you connect back to live it should be gold on both ends or worst case scenario, delete profile (profile only) and recover it that can fix it too, if not you will have to contact support as It shows you as gold on the forums on our end.

I have the same problem. I just paid for Gold for a month, xbox.com shows me as Gold Membership in the upper right corner, but I still can't join a multiplayer game. I can even use Netflix, so I know that it quasi-recognizes that I'm gold, just, games don't. WTF. Likewise, it's the only grayed out option, I can join parties, though I can't start parties.

Hi there! If you paid the $60 that should be a Gold account, but yours is displayed as Silver currently. Where did you purchase it?  Did you get a prepaid card?

Check your nat setting, it might be set to restricted. Nat setting needs to be OPEN.

My Xbox ->System Settings -> Network Settings -> (choose your network) -> Test Xbox Live Connection

Most times, if it sees a NAT issue, it'll tell you near the end of the test by saying you can connect but will face issues. More Info will then show you your NAT type. If you see nothing, then the test is saying it's Open.

However the test looks, if you can't connect to ANY game on Black ops but other games work, clear the system cache first (System Settings-Memory, hover over your storage device and hit the Y button to get to device settings-Clear Cache).
