Can't authorize Paypal?

I have a PayPal account and I have my bank account linked to it and that is what I use for all my purchases.. I also have a pre-paid Visa linked to it. I added my PayPal to my Xbox Live account and I simply want to buy 1000 Microsoft points but I keep getting a message saying "Can't authorize the selected payment option. Please select a different payment option or add a new one."

Why won't it let me purchase Microsoft points?

This has been happening to me for a week now! I even have $50 in my paypal account but it refuses to authorize buying points.

I'm having the same issue as you are, just wanted to add that. I know it's not helpful but hopefully if they see a few of us complaining of the same thing, it'll be dealt with faster...

i am having the same problem i have the right amount of funds available in my account and all i want to do is buy 1000 microsoft points but all i get is 'cant authorize the selected payment option' and i have even called microsoft and my bank and neither has a clue what is wrong.

Just spoke to Xbox Support:

The issue has been reported to upper management, however in the meantime to get your points you will have to buy a code for them.

Hey there Shepard! I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with PayPal. If you haven't, please check out our Payment Method Guide (forums.xbox.com/.../153161.aspx) and check out the PayPal section. Make sure you meet all the criteria for using PayPal (region, age, funds, and information).

Have you ever been able to use PayPal with your Xbox LIVE account? Are you able to make purchases with another payment methods, like a debit or credit card? Please let us know, thanks!

Well, I had the same problem just now. I gave up and paid for it with my PayPal debit card, though I'm not happy about that (I'd rather not tie real credit cards to my XBL account, seems too insecure).

Please, get this fixed (I'm somewhat suspicious part of the problem lies on PayPal's side).

Just wanted to say that I'm having the same exact  issue here. I've been using Paypal with my XBL account  for a long time now and this is the first time it has occurred.

*Edit*

Just tried to buy the point through the webpage and it worked. Apparently the issue is only when i buy try to purchase points using the Xbox dashboard.

Oh boy... Please, excuse my horrible grammar. Again, apparently the issue is only when i try to purchase points using the Xbox dashboard. Buying points through the Xbox webpage worked fine for me in 2 different occasions.
