Can My XBox Get Viruses?

So recently they opened my XBox up to the wonderful world of Internet Explorer.

I don't know why people write viruses.  If they hate Bill Gates so much maybe they could just go have a wee in his gas tank instead of creating malicious software that knacks the PC's of regular people.

But that stuff is out there and that's why I have a virus scanner.

With my 360 now using Internet Explorer is it now at greater risk of being infected by a virus?

Nope. You can't even download anything in the first place -_- And most sites that are threats are blocked anyways.

Your xbox will not get a virus from using the IE9 app.

OP, change your gamertag to "TrojanMan" and you wont have to worry about the xbox catching a virus.

Kid, why would even anyone waste their potential hacking anything when they could be getting paid for it as an excellent paid job.

Besides, the Xbox "hackers" aren't threatening, I have had received messages but it was just trolling. Haha.
With my 360 now using Internet Explorer is it now at greater risk of being infected by a virus?
For one the 360 does not run unsigned code. In all the years the console has been out the only way to make it do so that has been found is by means of a hardware hack.

So viruses writers would need to write for the 360's operating system but even if they did, the virus still wouldn't run because it isn't digitally signed.

Just how a Mac running OSX can't get a Windows virus, a 360 can't either.

I hope this wasn't directed at me, but if what you said was true there would be no hackers or viruses at all because everyone with the skill would have a good job.

the reason no one would write a virus for xbox is because it is a waste of time, there are what, 60million 360s in existence very few go on live, fewer still use the IE app, and fewer still would run into your virus. it's the same for macs, they aren't immune to computer viruses, it's just no one wants to make on because PC outnumber them so much I promise you if mac sales ever surpass windows we will have mac OS viruses out the bum.

I wonder if we will have iphone viruses come along, they are pretty popular, but it might be hard to write one since they get lots of updates.
