Brand New Xbox - PAL issue.

Hi All,

I am hoping someone can assist me.

Im new to XBOX , so please... be nice :-)

I got a brand new XBOX yesterday. Set it up, and everything works fine and looks great. However, when I put a game into the XBOX, and it tries to start it, it says that I need to change my settings from 50hz, to 60hz. So I go into the settings, and change to 60hz.

But when this change takes place, the screen is all blurry and fuzzy...and the games are the same. I can still play the game, but the quality is attrocious.

So at 50hz - everything is crystal clear. But at 60hz (which is apparently required to play the game) its terrible, and only just bareable.

I have set up my XBOX with everything standard from the box.

The TV i have is a Samsung LCD Model LA32R81BD

Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing something? Is there something I can do to rectify this?

Is it the TV? Is it the XBOX? Is it the cables? Is it me?????

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Something to try but it might not help you, go into your picture settings on your TV and see if there is an option for Gaming.

And with you using a HD TV it might be an idea to invest in a HDMI cable anyway, you can pick up a decent one relatively cheap. The composite cables do not really do games justice when using a HD TV. The component HD AV cable is OK though.

Sorry this is all I can think of but hopefully someone will have a free solution for you using the settings on your console or TV.

Will the game not play at all on 50hz then?, what is the game?.

EDIT: Sorry I forgot to ask, is there a little switch somewhere on the cable to switch between Standard and HD?.

Unfortunately Pilgrim new consoles only come with the standard definition Composite cable, Microsoft have stopped including a HD option in the box.

So yes you are correct that the only solution is for the OP to buy a Component or HDMI cable for their 360.

Cheers Vote, I had no idea they did not still include the HD component cable.
That is quite tight of MS to be honest.

I think it is disgraceful. When I bought my 360 Elite I got a Composite cable and SCART adaptor, a Component cable and two HDMI cables.

Since they are marketing the console as a HD device then they should include a HD cable in the box.

Thank you guys for your input.... a few days after I posted this, I went and bought a HDMI cable and it has worked a treat. I agree that it sucks that this isnt included as part of the pack.... but oh well... Im happy now.

Cheers to both of you for responding and answering my question.
