Black Ops stopped working

Guys,

I was playing COD Black Ops yesterday morning with a friend. We were both at my house and were playing on my XBOX 360 S (no HDD) when another friend came, so we quit so he could join in. When we tried to start again, we got a message of "unreadable disk".

We cleaned it and tried again but didn't work. We tried another game FIFA 2011 and worked fine. The COD Black Ops disc doesn't seemed dirty or scratched, so we tried it on my old XBOX console (from the Arcade package, HDD 60 Gb) and the disc worked just fine.

Today, after browsing through some forums, I tried cleaning System's Cache but nothing, still not running.

I am supposed to receive my orderd HDD for this console on Thursday, and could try to install it, although I don't see this will be possible if the unit can not read the disc.

Any idea of what can be happening and what can I do?

Raul.

Final follow up.

Sorry for the delay. I was on vacations.

New COD Black Ops disc, new HD installed, and game is working just fine.

By the way, both the first disc (the one that stopped working) and the new one are originals, not pirate.

Do you even own a real copy of the game not a pirated version. Pirated version wont work with the new dashboard update until you ... well you know what ...

Hi

we have tried 3 diffrent discs of Black ops on our sons 360 and kept getting disc unreadable error we then bought a brand new one wich did the same i have cleaned the laser and in the process of reassembling the xbox i tested the disc before attaching the casing and it worked so i attached all the covers etc and got the same error i then discovered it works if the hard drive is not attached. i wondered if it may be a update related problem or is the hard drive failing. the hdd works with all the other games

Truth is that I still don't get a hard drive. I already ordered and should be in anytime soon. But no hard drive attached to this console. I am almost sure I have a disk problem, since it is not running on my older console. Actually, I already ordered a new disc. Let's see what happens....

On page 5 or 6. Just follow thru like everything you tried didnt work. It will say...

"If your console can read discs when the hard drive is not attached, you need to order a replacement hard drive from Xbox Support "

KEYWORD the HARD DRIVE is failing.

Does your game have any burns on it from movement of the xbox?

No other discs with the same problem. But now, after several days of running the disc on my old console, suddenly also the same disc-unreadable message, but now on my old console.

So probably is a disc related problem. Although the disc looks in good shape to the naked eye, it may have some minor, but critical damages. Does it sound possible?

Hmm, and are any other games giving you the disc-unreadable message? Also, does a friend have a copy of the game that you could try on your console?
