Black bars when watching live tv through X1

When I play games I do not have this problem but when I switch to live tv there are black boxes on the left and right of the screen. I have tried adjusting the settings on my cable box and tv but nothing. I also tried changing to 720 over 1080 but that doesn't help either. Am I the only one with this issue.

No I have been having the same issues where aspect ratio changes to 4:3 from 16:9.  I took the XB1 out of my TV setup for now until all of these random HDMI issues are ironed out.   Whats your cable box?  I was running it through media center pc so I am sure that's whats going to blamed for this :)

I too had this issue. I solved it by selecting the 'Auto' ratio function (as opposed to choosing 4:3, 16:9, 16:10, Zoom etc.) on my picture settings for my Samsung TV.

You can try one other thing while watching TV through your Xbox One.  When you have the TV up and running in full screen, hit the button with the three lines (formerly the Start button).  Change the screen setting to Stretch.  This should do what you need it to.

Note: if your cable box and/or tv are also doing stretching or size adjustment, you may need to experiment.

I have a panasonic TV and Dish network box.  I will give those a try.
