Battlefield 3 - Connection with EA Lost

Hi,

I'm experiencing constant disconnect problems with this game. I'm usually briefly able to join multiplayer, and dropped a few moments in. This problem is persistent for the last 48 hours or so. I haven't altered any settings in recent memory. The problem just began out of the blue.

I'm able to access other Live content and stay connected. My modem and router are performing well with my other devices. Does anyone know of a work around, or know if EA is aware of the problem with their servers and is working on a fix?

Thanks.

Yes, it's only Battlefield 3.

I'm able to watch movies on Netflix, games on ESPN, and connect to other non-EA game servers.

Q. What is a EA Disconnect.

A. Because EA activley streams to stat servers, if there is a problem with this connection it will auto drop u from that game.

Q. How do i know i have them?

A. You should be able to play the game fine for around 10-20 minutes. You will then be kicked with a message "failed to connect to EA"

-------------

Most Common Causes

1.  Broken UPNP on your router. Disable it.

- This is post 2009 routers. Some 2009 / 2010 Routers will come under this. Log into your routers backend. Disable UPNP and a default PAT system will kick in. This will make ports forward more stable2.

2.  Router Firewall problem

Disable ur Routers firewall (To test only)

Or use DMZ this will put the device on the outside of the firewall.

3.   Enable port forwarding

TCP: 53, 88, 3074

UDP: 53, 88, 3074

Hi PhloydBarnum,

Your suggestion #1 solved the issue. I was able to go into my Belkin router settings and disable UPNP. After the router reset, I experienced no more drops from Battlefield 3, and was able to enjoy my game again.

Thank you very much!

Please note the this is common when EA servers are getting strained. My clan sometimes have a hard time joining our local server region and our rented server in Asia.
