Backwards Compatibility not working

Hello, all.

I hope someone here can help me, as I've run into a bit of an issue with my console. A while ago, I purchased the xbox original "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" on the xbox marketplace. The game used to work fine, (a fairly long time ago). However, when I try to start the game now, the following error appears:

Game Error

The game couldn't start. Try downloading the game again.

I have deleted and redownloaded the game, but this had no effect, the error still occurs. This never used to happen, and I've no idea as to what could be causing this problem. I have a 120gb hard drive, which the game is installed onto, and I have the latest dashboard update. Regular Arcade games work fine from the hard drive.

Edit - I've already cleared the System Cache, which had no effect.

Hey TK.

You are not alone as many people have posted recently about the exact same issue with this game. But right now no one seems to know the cause as all the usual methods of fixing problems like this are not working.
(Delete and re download the content, clear cache etc)...

But the most popular answer right now is that the game is not supported anymore, which can not be right as MS are still selling it on the marketplace for 1200msp.

I E-mailed support several days ago about the problem but am yet to receive a reply. Hopefully when it comes it will shed some light on this and help you and the other people with this problem get the game working again..

Ah, well at least I can take solace in the fact that it's not just me. :D

So, out of interest, do you think that Microsoft might issue some kind of compensation if the game cannot be fixed? We did pay for it, after all.

Since it's Rockstar's game they'd be responsible for refunds. It is very strange that a game suddenly stops working like that though.

Ah, fair enough.

GreyPilgrim, could you please post in this thread again, if and when Microsoft support get back to you? I'd be interested to know what they have to say.

I certainly will TK, I am still waiting on a response from the original E mail but I sent a follow today.

As soon as I get a response I will post on here, and send a LIVE message directly to your GT so you know.. I am really hoping they will be able to shed some light on this.

Hello again, all. I know this was a while ago, but does anyone have any more information regarding this game yet? The same problem still occurs, and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to either make it work, or maybe get a refund.
