A little confused? ( Spoilers)

I just beat the game and had a few questions.

1. The hive mind doesn't want the Marker back on Aegis VII, so why does the Marker possess the dead body of Nicole and trick Isaac into bringing it back?

2. What is with the whole marker? Is it alien or did the humans make it?Why did Kendra want to bring it back to earth if it is dangerous?  ( mostly everything dealing with the marker confuses me?

3. Does the marker make necromorphs or the hive mind?

4.Was the colony on Aegis VII already there before the Ishimura was deployed?

5. How does the USG Valor succumb to the Necromorphs so quickly? The one in the escape pod wasn't even one of the 'infectors' and the crew was packing heat too- not like the ishimura, which took weeks to be completely contaminated?

[/quote]DSwiki will give you answers.  Just type some key words in the search box.  Also DS2 answers some of the question you are posing, as well as creates new ones.  Or try this Wiki.

1.  It's a hallucination in Isaac's mind, brought about from the Marker.  Different parts of the game explain how the Marker makes many people hallucinate, often times seeing their dead loved ones.  This plays an important role in the second game.  The Marker doesn't want to be on the planet because it lays dormant there.  "The remaining team, lead by Dr. Eando Dukaj, created a pedestal that one of the members claimed to have seen in a vision, most likely made by the Marker, that could amplify the "dead space" made by the Marker in the hopes of stopping the Necromorph infection from spreading and hopefully giving them a chance at survival. The team succeeded in making the pedestal and locked the Hive Mind and the rest of the infection with it on Aegis VII."  Keep reading for more related info.

2.  The Red Marker in DS was reverse engineered from the one found on Earth, the Black Marker.  Now as to the origins of that marker, I'm not sure.  Kendra's plan.

3.  The Hive Mind controls the necros telepathically.  The Marker creates them from dead bodies.  "It was later discovered by a colonist that the Marker's inscriptions represented a DNA recombinant code for necrotic flesh that results in the creation of the Necromorphs...  After a number of experiments based on the finally deciphered symbols, resulting in the synthesis of an alien microbial life-form composed of recombinant DNA and the subsequent horrific events caused by its release into the wild, the system was abandoned and the Aegis Cluster marked off limits to all space traffic as a prohibited zone...  Through an accident in basic decontamination the team discovered that the genetic code written on the Marker was the code for the Necromorph contagion. It was also observed that the Marker emits a field or "dead space" that prevents the Necromorph DNA from initiating recombination and makes it go dormant. As time went on some members of the team, for unknown reasons, became infected and were turned into Necromorphs and subsequently got quarantined. The team members became overrun, and most of them were killed by the Necromorph infection.

4.  The Red Marker was originally placed  on Aegis VII long before DS.  After a while an illegal mining operation started on the planet.  Before the discovery of the Red Marker many of the people started experiencing insomnia and uneasiness.  Once it was discovered, the Church of Unitology sent the Ishimura to retrieve it.  They worship it as a holy grail of sorts, and because of the church's founder Michael Altman, who discovered the Black Marker.  They believe The Marker is the path to rebirth.  Crazy bunch of people.  They remind me of Scientology.

5.  Those little *** are crafty, or they just got lucky.  I'm guessing the Necro killed many people who weren't expecting it, including some of the bridge personnel.  Once the ship crashed into the Ishimura, it was all over.  The Necros flooded into the ship, including plenty of infectors.  The Necros can change a dead body to a Necro is seconds, obviously.

Congrats on beating the game.  This game is a relatively easy 1000/1000, not to mention fun.  It's just takes a few playthroughs.  Now that you beat the game, check out these cheats.  They help a lot for certain achievements (they do not affect the ability to unlock achievements), especially the Refill Stasis.  When you load a cleared game save you will be able to purchase the Military Suit once you get to the store.  It's 99K and has the most damage protection (30%) next to the  Tank suit DLC (60%).  The cheats will help you purchase the suit.  It also looks pretty cool.  Can you say Storm Trooper?  If you're going to get some DLC to help with your Impossible Run, go with the Tank Pack.  It comes with a few tank weapons (with increased damage) that look sweet, and the Tank suit.  They're all covered with Unitology Script.  The Tank Force Gun is particularly devastating.  Also comes with the Tank Flamethrower, and the Tank Line Gun.  You DO NOT need the DLC however, as it's not too hard.  All depends on what you think, and if your conseus will allow it.  DO NOT purchase the Military Suit, since it's a free unlock in the game.  Many fools on the old forums talked about how they paid real money for it, instead of in-game money lol.   Oh btw the movies and books are pretty good as well, and also give more insight into the story.
