This is great news. Now I can earn op killstreaks and pretend that I am good at the game.

Surely that the 6 vs 6 LP modes? I thought the 4 vs 4 was competetive settings? OMG.

Yeah, they said competitive settings a while ago. However, Vahn said on the IGN thing yesterday that only the care package is banned (and only in the 4v4 playlist). He said that the decision was made to attract players to eSports, which leaves me with a few comments:

1) Why bother trying to attract people to something that isn't truly eSports? Even COD with true competitive settings can only be loosely considered an eSport.

2) Why, after the whole "eSports initiative", make a step backwards from the competitive playlist in Black Ops 1?

3) I thought that the purpose of the 6v6 playlist with normal rules was to grow the competitive community. Why even bother having both if neither are going to be truly competitive?

4) How does it attract new players exactly? The current list of eSports that most people would consider a success haven't done anything to open the game up for newcomers.

The best way to make eSports popular is to make it mean something to be good. No one cares if you're good at a game that is already pretty easy.

Might as well just play regular core modes, cause I aint playing comp LP with all the Ghost perks and shocking stick thingyswith KSRs too boot.

he also said he can change whats restricted within 6 minutes from his computer lol, give it time and see what gets restricted and what not.

It's okay.

.

We can still le dominate. <3

CoD is NOT easy - you can die very quickly. A skilled player not only gets kills, but knows how to do so without dying AND completing the objective. The care package was taken out to prevent random chance. You only get score streaks that you EARN, not that you get by luck of the draw... I think it makes perfect sense. Jagriff, anything can be competitive so long as you can take sides; your 1st comment is purely an opinion. I believe that it can be an eSport, although not necessarily on the level of Starcraft becoming a national sport, but you never know... Only time will tell.

@Ordeal. Yeah, we'll still dominate, but the game will be very boring at a high level. People will camp in headglitches even more than they do now. We'll

Yeah and hopefully that will be done quickly. I am still questioning the decision given the points I listed in my post above.

Anything can be played competitively but not anything can be respected competitively. We can spend a lot of time playing competitive coin-flipping, and claim that we are competing, but I doubt many people will take us seriously. If the only challenge in a game is to not die, then there isn't much there. In a game like that, anyone can become good. So the game is pretty easy. Yeah, you earn scorestreaks, but they still disrupt the flow of the game and increase the random factor (not just with the AI, but also the rock-paper-scissors effect of the counter system).

The problem is that COD, with competitive rules, has already tried to become an eSport (and has failed). Making the game more random and less competitive will make it fail even worse. League Play (and Treyarch's dedication to the community) will help a lot, but if they take a step forward and then a step back, they aren't going anywhere. I am all for having a playlist to "grow" eSports, like the 6v6 playlist, but then there should also be a playlist with the true rulesets.

Yeah, it's my opinion based on experience with competitive COD since COD2.

So its not a final descision?

maybe it's just there at launch to attract those people to try it, and then they'll remove them a few months in?

I have a question about LP though. Is it just 1 playlist, or will it be a medley of game types? I'm hoping it the latter.
