Your selected skin is still loading

A thread of a similar name was shut down on 30th October 2019. This is to report the same error message, which occurred for us on 31st October 2019.

Hardware: XBOX One S Digital.

Game: Minecraft.

I am a child in these matters, so please assume that I know nothing.

My 9-year old son recently selected a new skin.

I do not know if this is a beta version of the game, or some component of it.

The game is unusable in the present situation.

I tried powering down the XBOX, and then unplugging it, to reboot.

- this did not clear the problem.

I followed the procedure to clear cookies, as detailed in the other thread.

 - this did not clear the problem.

I note that the other thread speaks of a hard reset.

- I have not tried this, as I have no idea of the consequences. My son has done a lot of construction work in various worlds, and he is nervous about losing all that.

I note that the other thread speaks of reinstalling the game.

- I have not tried this, as I have no idea of the consequences.

I note that the other thread speaks of a soft factory reset.

- I have not tried this, as I have no idea of the consequences.

I would be very grateful for any useful advice, but I must know the consequences of any proposed action beforehand.

I note that it appears that this is a live issue, and a thread needs to remain open, to assist users.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the game should be completely consequence-free.
All his game data should be fully restored after reinstalling and signing back into the game with his account.

For further info on reinstalling, fee free to refer to https://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/game-setup/install-games

Hey there XBOX dad

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on how to hopefully get your game playing the way that it should. I can understand how this could be pretty concerning as no one wants their progress in games or for the console to come to any harm.

As suggested by JemVanWin, I would suggest reinstalling the game. When you uninstall a game of the console, you're basically just removing the program from the Xbox. Your son's progress is tied to his online account, so it can always be recovered when you put it back on there.

As for the soft factory reset. It's a factory reset that cleans out your console, reinstalls the current version of the dashboard, doesn't uninstall any of your games/apps and in general is a great troubleshooting step for most problems.

Once you have made sure that your network is set up appropriately (with an open NAT type) and that you have all the sign-in information for any important gamertags you have on your console, try the steps outlined in our How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One and select the option denoted in reset and keep my games & apps.

Hope this information was helpful.

Much thanks for reading!

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. It is clear that NAT is vital to the success of this, so I will have look at how to do this, without upsetting other household members who have many devices on several routers; our primary router tends to forget MAC addresses if disturbed! I will try this tomorrow, and keep you posted.

I interpreted your comment about NAT as meaning that I had to change the NAT type to a different option. Bad move! I made the change in Edge on the XBOX, and all devices in the household stopped working.

I tried rebooting the modem/router without success. Spectrum tried a remote reset without success. Finally I had to hold down the hard reset with a pin, and then Spectrum were able to remotely reset the router, and all devices reconnected.

At that point I followed your link and selected the softest reset of XBOX, which restored operation of Minecraft.

I advised my son not to load any new skins, and he is back in action.

I assume that the new release of Minecraft has an issue with skin downloads, and that this should be avoided.
