XBOX wont pickup wifi IP

My xbox could connect fine until a couple nights ago. I disconnected my xbox from wifi so my computer wouldnt be so slow and when i tried to reconnect after that it wouldnt connect. I messed around with it a bit, unplugged my router and modem then plugged them back in and it still wouldnt connect. I went to configure and i noticed my IP was all zeroes. Is this the reason why i cant connect? If so how can i fix it?

Hey there Brady!
The IP address is one of the problems but your Xbox and your router do not only talk IP numbers to each other, they are also talking using their MAC addresses.

If you have the external wireless network adapter, make sure it is attached properly. Check the light of the adapter. It should be green.

Is your Xbox picking up the routers broadcast? Meaning, can your Xbox find the public name of your wireless network (SSID)?

Restore your router to factory defaults by press and hold the "reset" button on the back of your router for 10 seconds.

Reset your Xbox network settings to defaults.

Post back and let us know how it goes.

Yes it can find the SSID

I restored my router and resetted my network settings and the problem remains.

Hi,

Please read:- forums.xbox.com/.../811997.aspx

And post back your details in full (the bits that are in bold on that post) so that people may help

If you are wireless can you also state whether you are using the white or black external adapter or the Xbox 360S Internal adapter

Thanks

Can you provide us with information from the link Shad0wmanUK posted.

After you have reset your Xbox network settings, selected the correct public name of available wireless network and typed in the correct password (for your wireless network), does the "Test XBox LIVE Connection" fails anywhere between the XBox 360 and Xbox LIVE shown at the bottom of that window?
