Xbox turns on, but will not start

I have an older xbox that has served me faithfully during the years, and only recently has begun having problems. It turns on, the light in the center is green, and it sounds like it's working just fine, but the green rings around the power symbol in the center do not light up, the xbox does not acknowledge the controller, even if it is plugged in via usb cord, and my TV insists that there is no connection via my HDMI cord. This error had happened before, but seemed to have fixed itself, so I thought nothing of it. It was working fine last night, but now it refuses to work.

Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi there! Take a look at your power supply. When you turn it on, does it show an orange light or a green light?

Okay. Have you tried to connect your TV to the XBOX by any other means, such as a component or a composite cable?

Yes, I have tried my old composite cable, and still, no luck.

OK, it sounds like the system may need a repair- especially given what you say about the controllers not connecting, but there's a couple things we can try!  The first is going to be to boot up the system with all accessories removed, this includes the Hard Drive if you have one. (Here are the steps if you need them: Install Xbox 360 Hard Drive | Remove Xbox 360 Hard Drive.  And see if it'll boot up properly that way.  It's also a good idea to see if a wired controller will sync properly.  If neither of those will work, then the console needs a repair.

Have you tried to unplug all of the power cords, plug everything back in and retry powering it on,  You may also want to unplug any extra item plugged into the console such as the hdd or flash drive.
