xbox thinks wired connection present with no cable attached

i'm have a few problems connecting to my network all of a sudden. my xbox 360s was connected through a wired connection since i got it and working fine. today it was unable to sign in to xbox live, so i changed the cable and then the port on the router, with no luck. i then though i would try the built in wireless adapter and see if that gave me any joy. i have disconnected the ethernet cable and restarted the console but the xbox still thinks there is a wire connection present and refuses to allow me to connect via wireless.

i have tryedto plugin the cable again and see if there was any change but none. All other devices connected to the router both wired and wireless are connected fine

the xbox after failing a test connection has the following error status report after pressing Y

W: 0000 - 000D

X: 4000 - 1001

Y: 0000 - 0000

Z: 0000 - 0000

ID: FFFF - FFFF

any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm having the same issue.  I've been connecting to Xbox Live just fine for months.  Now all of a sudden today I can't connect.  The network test recognizes my network and internet access, however when it tries testing the connection to Xbox Live it fails.  I get:

W: 0000-000B

X: 0000-F001

Y: 00A8-4820

Z: 0000-0000

ID: 0006-0000

Please try resetting your network settings to factory default. You can see how to do so in step 1 here.

Step one didn't work for me, but step two did.  My issue was just the router needing to be reset.  Odd since it never happened before.  Thanks.

I'm afraid that the console will need a repair, in that case. You can check your warranty status and set one up here
