It shouldn't matter what size hdd, or even if you have one.  I have the 4gb slim and could play dvds before I got a 320gb hdd.  I know playing burnt dvds may give you issues.

No burned dvd's. The dvd's are all clean aswell, and some i have not even watched yet. I was able to watch the first austin powers for example after getting past the error somehow, but when i tried to watch others i was unable to. Hardware should be fine, if anything it should be better since i use an hdmi cable now. Really dumbfounded and thanks for the answers and help.

Hey InVicTusWarLord! Can you tell us the exact error code or message you're seeing? Do you have any trouble playing games or is this only DVDs? Let us know those few more details and we'll work from there!

I just called support because i was having the same problem. I have tried their solution and it has fixed mine. Sign out first and then the dvd should play. They said a lot of dvds have trouble playing on the xbox's, but usually signing out and having your chache cleared will do the trick. Hope this helps!

I read your posts and it stated that you burned some DVDs?  Do the DVDs play in other devices besides the computer?  The way you are burning them could be the issue.  I would try using a DVD that's purchased and see what happens.  Please try that and let everyone know what happens.  Thanks!
