Xbox Slim transfering help

hey fellas. so my current xbox is the black 250gb xbox slim. the one i want to purchase is the star wars kinect bundle. i have around 100gb or so of data on my current xbox. my question is:

can i transfer all of my data from my current xbox onto a usb, then to an external hard drive, back into a usb and finally back into my NEW xbox? ive tried looking for a slim to slim transfer cable, but i haven't had any luck in major retailers around my area.

thanks for any help :D

You should be able to purchase a slim to slim cable from support.  Give them a call.

As for the usb trick, I would recommend just moving your saves and then redownload your DLC.  That's what I did when I got my new console.

Don't forget to do a license transfer to the new console.

i just used a usb stick. it's easier that way if you dont have access to a cable.

if u don't mind sticking with the 250gb hard drive, i'd suggest just swapping it into the new xbox, alot quicker then swapping all the data

I know retailers do or use to carry the transfer cable needed. I could be wrong but I'm not sure if support still offers the cable any more.

I'd use the USB stick as it's cheaper then the cable is and may take a little longer but it works.
