Xbox Slim Crashes During Chat

For the past weeks, my Xbox Slim always crashes within 5 minutes of voice chat, without playing any videogame or doing anything else than chatting. The screen freezes and the system doesn't respond to anything, not even the main power button, which I have to press up to 4 times until it finally shuts the console down. When I restart it works fine and the problem doesn't reoccur again.

Hi there! Sorry to hear about the screen freeze troubles.

I would suggest checking out our Xbox Screen Freeze Solution tool, and let us know what it finds.

Thanks!

I went through that, and it didn't fix it. A couple of times, the crash happened again, now the chat gets constantly interrupted and invitations need to be sent again, although the console itself doesn't freeze.

This must be an exclusively voice-chat related issue, because I don't have any problems when using the console for playing games or anything else.

Yeah that is pretty weird.. Did this start after anything specific? New game? Update?

I would suggest clearing your Xbox 360 system cache if you haven't already.

Let us know about those questions. Thanks!

I have no idea when this started, it's been a long while to be honest. I do clear cache every now and then and I did it again recently because of this, and it didn't fix it.

Could it be because of my region? I live in the US but I'm originally from Spain and I still haven't migrated the account.

That might have something to do with it. How long are you planning on being in the US? If it's longer than 3 months it might be worth it to migrate your account and see if that helps at all.

Okay, this problem just got a little weirder. It may just be a strange coincidence, but I'm gonna mention it here for the record: I always have the crash problem when talking to the same person. The thing is, I nearly always use the voice chat to talk to this person. However I recently did have long conversations with two other people, one from Spain, the other from the US, and everything run perfectly.
