Xbox Slim 250GB cannot play games.

I have had my Xbox Slim since it's release in 2010. I'm use my Xbox more than any user for games and netflix. I use the system almost 6-8 hours a day. Everything has been working fine until last week. I continue to get disc unrecognized or unreadable on brand new games. I recently purchased Mass Effect 1 and 2, after about halfway through the first game that's when my xbox started acting up. I have to constantly open the tray and close until it can finally read the game. But when I turn it off or put it another game it just starts doing it again. None of my games are scratched or have the rings. I'm getting annoyed by this as I can't play any game. The only way I can play the game is if I install it to my HDD but even then that's if the Xbox can read the game long enough to install it.

What could the problem be? The Disc Drive or my discs? And how do I fix this.

if it is the disc drive you will have to send it in and since it is out of warranty it will cost you to do so, you will have to contact support to find out the $$$ amount.  to me it sounds like the drive is failing.

How do you know? Did you take a world survey? 6-8 hours/day isn't much. I know people who game for 8-15 hours/day.

As stated above it sounds like the disc drive is on its way out. Check out the trouble shooting link above and if nothing helps there you should contact support and request a repair. If the console is under warranty still you won't have to pay, but if it is out of warranty you will have to pay for the repair.

When this happens to me, I clear the system cache and that usually eliminates the problem.
