Xbox Series X Fan Noise

Since the first time I turned on my Xbox Series X the fan has made a loud clicking sound. It sounds like the fan is tapping a piece of plastic or something inside the Xbox. Can I open the console and fix whatever is pushing against the fan and causing this noise without voiding my warranty?

I have the exact same issue, it's a nightmare and gets so loud when the fan is at maximum.

To open the console you will void the warranty, 1 or 2 stickers on the back (depending what region you are) protect the screws so once they are removed that is it. It's frustrating as the console works absolutely fine except for the tapping of the fan, and getting a replacement/repair is going to be a nightmare.

I have the exact same issue. Hopefully Microsoft comes out with a fix or offers quick replacements.

I managed to resolve this, no need to open the console.

Stand xbox vertically and with front facing you

Through the vent at the top with a small screwdriver i kept turning the fan slightly until i could see a group of black cables clipped together through a gap in the fan blades. (Just right of centre at the front, nearest to you)

One of the cables was raised out of the group so i pressed down firmly on it and it is no longer catching the fan blade, been perfect since.

You may need a torch or light to shine into the vent.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much. Would you be able to take a picture of the location? I searched but I was not able to find any loose cables. I want to make sure I look at the right location.

If you look at the centre disk of the fan, the gap in the blades right up close to the centre, you can see a few black wires. Follow that away from the centre, moving the fan a bit at a time to follow the wires and gently prodding to make sure the wires are not sticking up.

Go in around this location, you may have to look at an angle into the fan rather than straight from above.

I really hope this helps people as i know i was very worried when mine was doing this

Thank you so much, I found the cables but it looks like none of them were loose or lifted. I pushed them down anyways and the noise got reduced but I still can hear it, I think I need to compare mine with another one in person to determine if this reduced clicking noise is normal or not since it runs really hot while playing cod cold war in 4k at 120hz and the fan is at full speed.

I would recommend not opening it up by yourself since it would void your warranty on the xbox rather send it to xbox to get it fixed.
