I don't expect we'll be seeing any more updates to Xbox Originals, however you can get a used copy of Halo 2 quite easily and it will work on your Xbox 360.  Doesn't look like Brother in Arms is on the list of compatible games though.

To play online or in Single Player?  As far as I know (and I could be wrong), Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 does _not_ work on the Xbox 360.

That is correct.  All original Xbox game no longer have Xbox LIVE functionality.

Kind of a bummer of an option, but you could always buy an old original Xbox. They don't cost all that much these days..

They don't cost all that much because they don't work, seriously, is it really all that much trouble for them to make ALL of the originals 360 compatible?  When people first purchased those games, they weren't told that they'd only work for 5-10 years, I can see why the online options can't be supported anymore, but you should be able to play ANY xbox game offline at the very least, the one I want to play again is 'Batman Vengeance'...:-)

The original Xbox consoles work fine and are actually far more stable and reliable than Xbox 360 consoles.  It is challenging for them to make Xbox games compatible with the Xbox 360 console as it's all different hardware and they have to do a process called emulation, which is never perfect or 100% accurate.

In terms of shelf life, for offline content it will work so long as you have a functional Xbox console, or an Xbox 360 console which supports the original title.  For online features, if you read the agreement with Xbox LIVE, any part of the service can be withdrawn at any point for any reason, and by using the service you agree to this.

You can pick up a used Xbox console at places like EB Games or Game Stop for cheap these days, and then you can certainly enjoy Batman: Vengeance again.

"any part of the service can be withdrawn" refers to XBOXLive, not a game purchased, 'Batman Vengeance' is not a service, an original xbox console is more stable than a 360?  I'd agree that a 'GoPro 360' is better manufactured than the slim, but the original, even a PS1 (definitely a PS2) outperforms it, in my opinion.  Emulation software is only a challenge for those who are trying to emulate other systems on, well, other systems.  A software GIANT such as Microsoft shouldn't have any trouble emulating their OWN software for their OWN hardware...:-)
