Xbox One X freezes and shuts down!!

Hi

My Xbox one x is well ventilated and the power cord and supply are working well. However, at times - it could be after hours of playing games or after a few minutes of browsing the store or clubs, or gaming, it freezes and turns off. Can anyone tell me what I should do to fix this?

Regards

The causes for this could be a game crash, a failing power supply (in this case the power supply is inside the xbox one x), or a ventilation issue.

For more info see here: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/console-turns-off-unexpectedly

If it's a power supply issue, which this usually is, one day it may refuse to turn on. At that time you will need a repair or you can see this page to see if you can reset your power supply: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/console-wont-power-on if the surge protection has been tripped.

Hi, thank you for the reply. As I said, the ventilation is good. I have plenty of space around it and there is a window open right behind it. It's cold weather here in the UK as well. There is no problem with it turning on. I am not sure of the power supply inside, but the trouble shoot you linked me to, I have tried all that. After my one X freezes and shuts down, I am able to turn it back on and it usually plays well after that for a few more hours or sometimes, minutes (very rarely though). I can confirm it does not just happen while playing a game but also when simply browsing through the system features, like looking for players in the community or "browsing the store", etc.. I don't think it's a surge problem as my other appliances are working well. I used to use a surge protector and now I plug my Xbox one X straight into the wall socket. The problem has occurred during both those times.

Please advice.

Regards

I have seen this many times before - the problem degrades until the console will turn off right after you turn it back on. Failed power supply.

I would suggest you get a warranty repair. Either contact them here: http://support.xbox.com/contact-us

Or submit the request here, yourself: https://support.microsoft.com/devices It will require the serial number of the console to register it. That's on the back on a sticker.

Hi, I started a service order but there is not enough space to report the problem in detail so I did not finish it - thinking that they won't be able to fix it. How should I explain this to them?

Please advice

Regards

That it turns off randomly and you have done everything on these two pages: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/console-turns-off-unexpectedly https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/console-wont-power-on

They will find the problem and fix the issue for you with their diagnostics. You can also opt for an advanced exchange, where they send you a repaired one as soon as you send yours - and they hold a charge for a new console until they receive yours in the mail.

In that case you should try having them set it up for you in a live chat. Go here http://support.xbox.com/contact-us

and select Xbox One > No thanks > Security (since warranty & support does not have the xbox support option, only xbox gamer) > Chat with xbox support.

Explain the issue and your want for a warranty repair and they'll set everything up and have a prepaid label sent to you in your email for the return.

Hi. It says I must chat with an Xbox gamer for answers. Is it the right place to proceed with the service setup??

No, they are another company that is like the xbox ambassadors group. They will only tell you to use the self service page like you've already tried or to contact xbox support.

Please click any other option and look for "chat with xbox support". The following thread does have that:

Xbox One > No thanks > Security > Chat with xbox support.
