I had the same problem. After messing around in settings I found a solution that worked for me. Go to "Display & Sound" in the setting menu. Select "TV connection" and set it to anything except auto-select. I think the tv and console are having trouble communicating which makes it select incorrectly. From there select the right resolution for your tv and problem solved. Hope this helps you guys.

I am having the same problem but the above response did not resolve my issue...I have used multiple hdmi chords and plugged my One into three different tvs (plasma, lcd and led) and none of them will allow me to view it in anything other than 640x480...The One is plugged directly into the tv also...When I try going into the settings and changing it to 1080 or 720 the screen just gos blank. Has anyone else had this problem and found any resolutions to it?

Unfortunately this sounds like a hardware issue and you may need to have your console serviced.

Before that I'd recommend to have the grafic settings resetted to try if that helps.

To have them resetted hold the eject and the power button simultaneously to power up the console. If still give you a beep when the console starts and will reset all the grafics settings and boot in the lowest resolution. After finishing the boot process try to configure the settings again to check if it's possible then.

If not you should phone the technical support to have the console serviced.

Propper phone numbers can be found at support.xbox.com/contact-us

Try doing a hard reboot on your console by holding the power button on the front of it for 10 sec until it turns off then unplug it from the outlet for 30 seconds then plug back in and power back on. Hopefully this will resolve the issue.
