Xbox One S Controller skipping selections on Dashboard. D-Pad/Stick double click

Hello everyone, I need some help with a problem regarding my Xbox One S controller.

In the dashboard it just skips the selection, and if you try to move in 1 direction it will make 2 steps, going elsewhere and making the navigation a true nightmare. It happens with both the D-Pad and the analog stick.

Why is it happening? Is there a solution? I see lot of people online have this problem but nobody have actually resolved.

I've already check the updates, it got the last firmware.

If i plug it in a pc, In Windows 10 in the controller settings I can press every button and trigger normally, but if I press the home button to access the dashboard, the problem come back again, it double clicks in every direction and goes fast like in the Xbox.

Btw I have another controller that works just fine both in pc and Xbox, so I don't think it's a console problem.

Hi Banjo,

Thanks for coming to the forums. Have you tried updating the controller? Even if there isn't an update, sometimes when it checks syncs the controller again. How old is the controller with the issue? It could just be going bad also.

Thanks,

Brad

Stay safe have fun. GAME HARD just not too hard :) ಠ益ಠ

When you did the controller firmware update, did you use the uSB method?

Yes.

@XBF Brad A

It started randomly yesterday. Ok but if it was going bad, why it works 100% fine in the gamepad settings in Windows 10?

I agree, sounds like the controller is faulty if updating firmware didn't solve the issue.

No, the controller is not faulty.

In game works 100% perfectly with no glitches whatsoever.

The problem is ONLY in the dashboard.

Doing some researches I found out this is a really common problem, and somebody suggested pressing this combination of buttons:

RB + RX + X

This actually works but for only like 5 seconds, then the glitch comes back.

I'd really like to hear some technical explanation about what's going on.

My nephew had this problem. We managed to fix it by taking all batteries out and goving it a good clean and pushing thumb sticks and buttons in to loosen any grime. It did the trick so hopefully it works for you too.

I've finally solved it. Here is what happened:

In the Xbox one, if you keep the right thumbstick moving, it activate the "FAST SCROLLING" feature, and apparently, there was a really little drift with my R3 analog stick, that caused this to happen.

All you have to do, is fix this drift, and no more indesiderate fast scrolling again.
You can either replace the thumbstick with a new one if you have soldering skills, or clean your thumbstick by opening it like is shown in this video
