Xbox one headset won't let me speak

I have had the original headset that I got with my Xbox one for about a year now.  I can't remember exactly when but all the sudden I couldn't talk to anyone.  I just kept pushing it off to the side until I eventually bought a new one.  The new one still had the same problems.  So I have been on countless forums and watching YouTube videos to try to find a solution but nothing has worked so far.  Please is someone knows the solutions tell me, I am really sick of not being able to talk to people.

This problem was introduced with the last dashboard update, the only solution that works so far is to use a complete wireless headset like the Turtle Beach Stealth 500x, as these are not connected to the controller for the partychat/gamesound. there is also another problem with the controllers having a disconnection problem that happens randomly.
