If you have any Game capture device between your xbox and TV, unplug it. You can't watch films with it plugged in. Hope this helps :)

I'm having exactly the same problem. I'm not using any kind of video capture though. HDMI cable runs directly from Xbox to TV.

Any other ways to help?

I've spoken to Microsoft who sent me a replacement but the issue was the same on the 2nd console, have been sent another replacement today and same issue again. I'm either really unlucky or I'm missing something.

I am also having this issue.  I have no capture device at all.  Just an HDMI cable straight from the Xbox One into my television.  I contacted Microsoft and was sent a replacement, which is giving me the exact same message.  It is clear that there is something causing this issue that hasn't been brought up yet.  I find it very unlikely that myself and Thacko83 both had this issue and both had replacements sent which continued to have the same problem.  Can somebody at Microsoft figure this out?  We consumers paid a lot of money for this console that seems to be defective.  Not good.

Hey so I was having the same problem, and all I did was reinstall the blu-ray player. It made it so I was able to watch the dvd that was showing up with the error code. Hope this may help you guys.

Ok guys i have figured a quick fix to error code (0x91d7001)!!  Had my day one say it  and now my new one sais it.  Put your dvd or blue ray into the console allow time for error code to show or black screen to show.  When it does remove disk from console. Do not touch your controller. After dvd or blue ray is removed reach behind your console and unpluge your hdmi cable wait 10 seconds. Then pluge the hdmi back in. You will still have an error or black screen.  Then immediately put your dvd or blue ray back into console.  It had worked for me for both disk types.  Again this is just a quick fix but it seems to be solid.  I hope it helps good luck.  (I just have my hdmi going straight from console to tv)

I tried the steps from Kinky Snowman, it started to act like it was going to play but I just got a blank screen. I think if it wasn't a rental DVD it may play with out question.

Hi Guys, I suggest you to try These Troubleshooting Steps:

support.xbox.com/.../disc-error

If that not helps, try reinstalling the BlueRay App like TorridestData86 has said!

You can also try Clearing the persist Storage in the BlueRay-Settings.

If you^re using "Child-Account" check your Security Settings, may you can^t Play it because of the Age of majority..

If that all does not help. it could may be that you^re using a "Region-locked" Movie...

Check this site for more Information:

support.xbox.com/.../watch-bluray-dvd-movies

Games are not Region locked! But DVD and BlueRays can be Region locked!!

I had this issue with the Winter Soldier Blu Ray...tried Kinky Snowman's "FIX" and it worked for me too.

So then I have 2 questions...

1 - Where is the breakdown in communication between the TV and the XB1?

2 - Why does this "Fix" work?

I don't think I should have to unplug my XB1 and plug it back in every time I want to watch a Blu Ray.

I should note, that I have not thoroughly tested every movie I own.  I have recieved this error on Blu Rays, but not Standard DVDs.
